Apple MacBook Pro, Mac mini models powered by M2 series chipsets
According to a report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the upcoming macOS Ventura`update will include support for new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models before the end of this year. The report notes that the new MacBook Pro models may have two CPU variants which are — the M2 Pro and M2 Max chipsets. Moreover, the upcoming Mac mini is also likely to have both M2 and M2 Pro chip options.
New models may launch in November
These new MacBook Pro and Mac mini models are expected to launch in November. Over the past few years, Apple has launched new Macs in November which includes — 2019’s 16-inch MacBook Pro and 2020’s first three Macs with the M1 chip.
However, the latest 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models that come powered by the M1 Pro and M1 Max processors were released in October 2021. The current MacBook Pro models feature a new design with a display notch and additional ports like MagSafe, HDMI and even an SD card reader.
In November 2021, Apple updated the base model Mac mini with M1 chips. More expensive models are available with Intel i5 and i7 processors.
The Mac Pro is not expected to get updated with Apple silicon before 2023 and the next models will be available with M2 Ultra and M2 Extreme chips, the report adds. Apple may also add a new MacBook Air, a 13-inch MacBook Pro and new 24-inch iMac models in 2023.
