Erling Haaland injury update as Man City boss Pep Guardiola leaks Fulham team news | Football | Sport

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has hinted that Erling Haaland will be available for selection in Saturday’s Premier League clash against Fulham. Haaland could resume his prolific debut season in England at the Etihad Stadium after a short injury lay-off.

Guardiola withdrew Haaland at half-time during Man City’s 0-0 draw at Borussia Dortmund last week, after which he was spotted limping in a car park. And the 22-year-old striker missed the following wins against Leicester City and Sevilla due to a bruised foot.

But after returning to training this week, Haaland could be back in contention, much to the delight of FPL managers and the sorrow of Fulham. Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Friday, Guardiola confirmed that his star striker was feeling ‘much better’ and would undergo a late fitness test.

He told reporters: “He is much better – we will decide today [if he can play tomorrow]. It’s a good step to start training. [We must consider] himself, his opinion, the doctor’s opinion. If it’s 90 minutes or just fewer minutes, we will see after training.”

Haaland has run riot at the start of his Man City career, scoring 22 goals in 16 games, including 17 in 11 Premier League outings. The Norway international has been directly involved in at least one goal in all eight home appearances since joining Guardiola’s all-star squad in the summer.

Julian Alvarez is a worthy understudy, also enjoying a positive maiden campaign on English shores, but Haaland has proven his worth in gold after his £51million switch from Borussia Dortmund. And his return to the pitch will undoubtedly unearth more confidence in City’s pursuit of a record-equalling third straight Premier League title.
