Sony May Be Working on a PlayStation 5 Slim; PS Stars Program Offers a Nov 2022 Update

It’s been nearly two years since Sony launched the next generation of consoles in the PlayStation 5.

Since then, the console alongside the Xbox Series X has ushered in a new era of gaming. While the console still faces supply issues, Sony is making sure that the PS5 reaches every gamer’s hands.

However, the Japanese company isn’t done with improving the PS5, which is on the heavier side thanks to its impressive hardware. According to prominent leaker The Leak, Sony is looking to develop a smaller version of the PS5. This would be in line with the Slim versions of previous consoles like the PS4 and PS3.

The leak suggests that there will be extensive redesigns to the exterior, which includes removal or tweaking the massive flaps of the PS5. This change could bring the size and the weight of the PS5 down a lot.

While we don’t have much information about the new console, The Leak has maintained that Sony won’t designate it as the Slim model of PS5. Furthermore, it’s also been reported that the console will go into production in Q2 of next year, with the retail release date to be in Q3 2023.

The PS5 is quite huge with its flaps and other hardware components.

In other news, PlayStation has unveiled the November 2022 update for its Stars loyalty program that PlayStation users can join for free using the PlayStation App.

Ratchet & Clank 20th anniversary digital collectible.
