Black Friday isn’t the cheapest day to book flights, claims expert | Travel News | Travel

As Black Friday approaches, many airlines and holiday companies are launching deals. However, an expert told Express.co.uk that there’s a better day to snag a deal on a plane ticket.

Sebastian Texier, a travel expert at Hopper, claimed: “Industry data says the Tuesday after Black Friday (November 29) is actually the cheapest day to book flights, so hold off from immediately buying on Black Friday.”

Black Friday can be a great time to snag a deal but some Britons could be better off waiting until the following Tuesday as airlines may offer even better deals.

Known as Travel Deal Tuesday, Skyscanner also says the Tuesday after Black Friday is a time when travel companies may offer “unbeatable deals”.

If British tourists don’t spot their dream deal on Black Friday, it could be worth holding off to see what Travel Deal Tuesday might bring.

But how can Britons find the deal of their dreams?

Set price alerts for the destinations you’re eyeing up

Sebastian said: “If there’s a city or resort you’re hoping to travel to next year, avoid missing out by setting a ‘watch’ so you’ll be notified the second a good deal goes live.”

Price alerts will keep Britons informed and are a good way to find out if a dream destination has an incredible deal on offer this bargain season.

Different destinations vary when it comes to peak season so Britons who want to save money could look out for the cheapest time to travel.

DON’T MISS

Check participating airlines and hotels for promotions

“Some travel apps will share additional discounts on flights and hotels for specific destinations so if you have a place in mind, make sure to check,” said Sebastian.

He added: “It’s also worth signing up to travel sites’ newsletters and social channels for any exclusive offers.”

Travel companies will often share promotions and deals in emails to loyal customers before announcing them more widely. They may also run competitions on their social channels.

Additional offers may be available on the company’s app so it could be worth downloading an app of a target company before Black Friday.

Get a little help from your friends

Sebastian said: “On top of the massive discounts being offered by travel companies on Travel Deal Tuesday, check if you could be earning extra money through referrals.”

Hopper offers the chance for holidaymakers to earn cash by inviting friends to book their own holidays on the app.

Other companies may offer buy-one-get-one-free deals for friends and family or there could even be exclusive deals for families with small children.

Grouping up with friends and family is a great way to save money on a holiday and even earn a little cashback to spend on treats.
