Nick Kyrgios has stuck his nose in controversy again.

One day after Ash Barty clinched a record-breaking fifth Newcombe Medal, the highest individual honour in Australian tennis, Kyrgios blasted the decision to award her the honour.

Kyrgios shared an Instagram graphic posted by Sportskeeda comparing Barty’s 2022 statistics with those of the brash star from the ACT.

“LOL (laugh out loud),” Kyrgios wrote.

“No respect at all. I don’t give a f–k.”

Barty won two singles titles and one doubles crown in 2022, as well as 14 matches across the two formats.

Kyrgios clinched one singles title and three doubles crowns, as well as 61 victories across the two disciplines.

Those numbers alone might indicate Kyrgios had a superior year to Barty, although Barty won a singles grand slam and the controversial star did not.

While Barty breezed through the Australian Open singles draw undefeated, seizing the title by defeating Danielle Collins in the final, Kyrgios reached the Wimbledon singles decider but lost to Novak Djokovic.
