Ulrika Jonsson, 55, said she is “staunchly against” Dry January because it is the “most miserable month” of the year. However, she notes that overindulging during the festivities has now caught up with her.

The TV presenter wrote in her new column: “Drinking every single day of the celebrations, at the same time as being a hostess and responsible mum, responsible dog owner and housekeeper has really taken its toll.

“I don’t drink every day of the week normally. And we all know the hangovers get worse with age. But it’s the ‘hangxiety’ the following day that often plagues me for a long time and it’s exhausting.”

Ulrika added in The Sun that alcoholism “runs in my family” and two of her grandparents were alcoholic.

Therefore, the mother-of-four says she is “always mindful” about how much she drinks and “constantly questions why I might need a drink”.

Nevertheless, Ulrika says: “I don’t want to give up alcohol forever,” but she does feel “a personal change is looming”.

Last year, Ulrika joked that she “disgraced” herself after drinking three pints of rum during a boozy bank holiday.

The following day, she shared a photograph of herself looking a little worse for wear in a roll-neck jumper and large sunglasses.

In the caption, she exclaimed: “No, YOU disgraced yourself last night.”

Ulrika’s first husband was cameraman John Turnbull from 1990 to 1995, with whom she had a son named Cameron in 1994.

Ulrika then famously married Lance Gerrard-Wright after meeting him on 2002 reality show Mr Right.

She gave birth to their daughter Martha in May 2004 but the pair later split in October 2005.

The presenter is also a mum to her eldest daughter Bo from a previous relationship.
