Scream 6 Trailer Shows an All-Out War Between Ghostface and Their Victims

Scream VI has unleashed a new trailer and poster, teasing “something different” from the Ghostface killer.

The city that never sleeps is certainly not taking a nap any time soon as the latest trailer for Scream VI shows the survivors of the Ghostface killings leaving Woodsboro behind to start a fresh chapter in New York — but that chapter gets torn up when the masked menace shows up.

Warning: trailer contains flashing lights.

This time, Ghostface is not only armed with a blade but also a pump-action shotgun to terrorize their victims. “There’s never been one like me,” the cloaked figure declares in one scene, while another clip unveils a macabre shrine dedicated to the franchise’s previous killers.

The sequel sees the return of Jenna Ortega’s Tara Carpenter, Melissa Barrera’s Sam Carpenter, Jasmin Savoy Brown’s Mindy Meeks-Martin, and Mason Gooding’s Chad Meeks-Martin. Courtney Cox reprises her role as Gale Weathers, while Hayden Panettiere is back as Kirby Reed.

The poster highlights both new and returning faces, but offers very little in the way of clues, though Gooding suggested otherwise on Twitter: “Jenna and Devyn the only ones looking directly at us in the poster… then Hayden with the absolute boldest power stance you’ve ever seen.”

The film is directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett from a script by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick. Vanderbilt is also producing alongside Paul Neinstein and William Sherak. Kevin Williamson is exec producing with Gary Barber, Peter Oillataguerre, and Chad Villella.

Scream VI is set for release on March 10, 2023, just over a year after the fifth installment unleashed more terror from the Ghostface killer.

IGN’s review of 2022’s Scream entry praised the movie for creating something that felt “almost completely new” and carving out “a future for the franchise that some may not have thought possible with a tight story, great performances, and stellar new directions.”
