Ambarish Bandyopadhyay, the head of sports sales at Disney Star, has put in his papers at a time when the company is locked in a tough battle with Viacom18 over Indian Premier League (IPL) ad revenues. Last year, Bandyopadhyay was elevated to head of sports sales. He spent over four years at the company. Vaibhav Goyal, who is senior VP, ad sales at Star Sports, is also believed to have quit.
Incidentally, he was elevated to his current role in November 2021. “Ambarish Bandyopadhyay has quit Disney Star as ad sales head for sports. Apart from him, Vaibhav Goyal has also decided to leave,” a source privy to the development told ET.
“There is a lot of pressure on the ad sales team this year to achieve IPL ad revenue targets under a very challenging situation,” he added. About 3-4 mid-level ad sales executives from sports sales team are believed to have put in papers, people with knowledge of the matter said.
