Energy bills to rise by 20 percent next month as grant support ‘comes to an end’ | Personal Finance | Finance

Dr Steve Buckley, head of data science at Loop, broke down the average loss in energy bill support households are set to face in the coming months.

He explained: “Customers are due to be hit by a double whammy in April, with the end of the Government’s Winter Support Package which has given households £400 in support over recent months.

“On a monthly basis this will mean households are losing out on £67 regular support payments, but combined with the forecasted price cap rise, customers could be paying 43 percent more every year.

“Even if the energy price guarantee rise is scrapped, households will still face a significant scale back on Government support to manage costs, as winter discounts come to an end in the midst of a cold snap.”
