The UK has 7,723 miles of coastline, from towering clifts to sandy beaches and sweeping bays to explore. Much, if not all of the UK’s coast is accessible, and the country is home to several seaside towns. Express.co.uk wants to know which is your favourite. Vote in our poll.

Many British holidaymakers enjoy a getaway by the sea, and whether it is for a day trip or staycation, where do you prefer? The south coast of England has plenty of sandy beaches and coves to enjoy from Margate and Deal in Kent to Worthing in West Sussex and Lyme Regis in Dorset there are plenty of choices.

The southwest is also a popular destination, with several seaside towns including Weston-Super-Mare, Somerset, Devon’s Teignmouth and Torquay, and St Ives in Cornwall.

The East coast of the UK is met by the North Sea, and this part of the country also offers many seaside towns to explore, like Aldeburgh, Suffolk and Cromer, Norfolk. Yorkshire has plenty of seaside resorts, notably Scarborough, Whitby and Saltburn-by-the-Sea. 

Meanwhile, Northumberland’s Bamburgh has been awarded the title of UK’s best seaside town by Which? Whereas on the West coast of England, prominent seaside towns of Morecambe, Lancashire and Southport, Merseyside attract millions of visitors each year. Also facing the Irish Sea is the Welsh seaside town of Llandudno, Conwy, as well as many of South Wales’ beautiful sandy beaches and coastline. 

Elsewhere in the UK, Scotland offers picture-perfect coves, from the port town of Tobermory on the Isle of Mull to Aberdour, Fife. While Portrush, County Antrim is a popular holiday destination in the north of Northern Ireland.
