Prince Harry’s tell-all book Spare has been slammed by John Lydon, as he urged the couple to leave the showbiz scene altogether if they craved privacy.

In a new interview, the singer – whose group Public Image Ltd will release a new album this August – blasted the Sussexes, claiming the pair are “spiteful”, and suggested they should “shut up”.

“If you want to be normal and outside of [the Royal Family], then f*** off. Just f*** off and shut up!” he exclaimed to the Telegraph.

“I’ve had to make decisions like this in the past. I had to leave the Pistols, I had to break up PiL [Public Image Ltd] a couple of times because the situation was unsustainable.

“And if that was their dilemma then please go away, alright? And we’ll love you for it.”

However, he insisted that, in his eyes, the couple was unlikely to do so.

Former Sex Pistols legend John spoke about Harry’s divisive memoir, Spare, and life as a royal, adding: “I’ve never been one for kiss and tell books. They’re very, very spiteful to families and friends.”

John was speaking in an interview to publicise his forthcoming album, End of the World, which will be promoted via a 38-date tour across the UK and Europe.

The album will be devoted to his late wife Nora, who sadly died last week at the age of 80, after a battle with Alzheimer’s which had compelled John to become her carer.

However, John insisted that he has no “self-pity” over the sad loss, explaining that he thinks that would only “arm his enemies”.
