Jay Blades, 51, shared a rare picture of his partner Lisa Zbozen to announce their happy news on social media just before Christmas. In the snap, his wife-to-be flashed her engagement designed by him. On his Instagram page he went on to share pictures from their holiday together.

As many congratulated the pair, Twitter user named Paul K wrote: “Congrats. So is it a race with Will [Kirk] for next toddler in the repair barn ;).”

Shutting down the thought of anymore children, he replied: “No more kids over here for us.”

The furniture restorer has a teenage daughter named Zola Blades from his previous marriage to wife Jade.

It is reported that he also has two other children from previous relationships.

“Thank you for all your beautiful messages in person & online on our engagement.

“I’m very lucky & grateful for everything I have. Thank you for an amazing 2021. Let’s make 2022 even better.”

Jay was previously married to first wife Jade, who he met at university.

In 2015, he left the family home after falling out of love with her.

That year, the presenter said he also lost his business and became homeless, but got back on his feet thanks to a friend.

Speaking to Susannah Constantine on her My Wardrobe Malfunction podcast, he said: “My marriage broke down, my business, my charity, there was a number of young people I had employed.

“I was a pillar in the community that people used to go to and ask for support in more ways than one,’ he explained.

‘When you hit a certain point in your life that you have to ask for help, and you’re in my position – I was someone who was super strong for everyone, but then I couldn’t ask the people I was strong for to help me build me up, it’s impossible.

“They look at you and go, “Hold on, if I have to support you, who’s going to support me?”

Jay described that period of time as “rock bottom” and has since gone on to become successful.

The Repair Shop continues tonight at 8pm on BBC One.
