“(Origi) is an incredible striker and for different reasons he did not play that often, but I hope one day he finds a manager that plays him more than I do,” Klopp admitted after Origi scoring the Wolves winner on his 100th substitute appearance for the club.

“He’s one of the best finishers I’ve ever seen in my life. In this great team, with our (front) three, he doesn’t play all the time but he is a very positive boy, loves the club, wants to contribute and he did in an incredible way.”

Come the summer, it may be time for player and club to part ways but with everything that’s happening at Liverpool this month, now just doesn’t feel like the right time.

Who knows what twists and turns the next few weeks of the January transfer window might bring, but Reds fans should take solace in the fact the Magpies have swooped for someone else’s striker.

Origi’s Liverpool love affair looks set to continue. For now, anyway.
