France vaccine pass law: Key venues banning people who have not had their booster jab | Travel News | Travel
France has imposed new restrictions on citizens and visitors who have not yet received their booster vaccine. As of January 15, 2022, anyone who received their second jab seven or more months ago, but has not yet received their booster, will no longer be able to access the “pass sanitaire”.
“Pass sanitaire” is France’s version of a vaccine passport, allowing people to access certain amenities and services.
According to The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office: “From 15 January 2022, those who are aged 18-64 years old and who have been fully vaccinated for more than seven months will need to demonstrate they have received an approved COVID-19 booster injection in order to access the “pass sanitaire” in France.
“This applies to visiting tourists and those residing in France.
“You can access the QR code for your booster in the same way as for previous injections.”

Where is the vaccine pass used in France?
People will need to be able to present an up-to-date vaccine pass in order to use a number of public services across France.
These include:
- Cinemas, theatres and other leisure establishments
- Sporting venues
- Festivals
- Amusement parks
- Arcades
- Interregional transport such as planes, trains and buses
- Fairs, seminars and trade shows
- Bars, cafes and restaurants
- Stadiums and music halls
How can UK tourists get “Pass sanitaire”?
According to the Consulate General of France in London: “QR codes issued by the NHS after full vaccination are now recognized by the TousAntiCovid app.
“If you have completed a full course of vaccination but do not have a QR code (this applies to Scotland, Northern Ireland, Jersey, Guernsey, the Isle of Man and Gibraltar), you may apply for a “pass sanitaire” with a QR code.”
It adds: “People vaccinated in the UK can now scan their full NHS vaccine status into the TousAntiCovid app using the QR code.
“Your NHS QR code (the most recent one possible) is recognised by the TousAntiCovid (TAC Verif) app, which checks the validity of QR codes.
“From 15 January 2022, anyone aged 18 and over will have to have a booster jab seven months after their last injection or infection, to extend their active health pass.
“At this stage, a booster jab is not obligatory for the travel health pass. In this respect, anyone travelling may, for the moment, use their health pass to return to France without having had a booster jab.”
