Surf Life Saving Australia has cancelled today’s Iron Man and Iron Woman Series competition due to the beach closures and tsunami warnings in place across the east coast of New South Wales.

A new date and location for the round three event – the survival format – will be announced in coming days, organisers say.

Rounds one and two of the Iron Series were held at North Bondi Beach on Friday and Saturday.

Reigning Iron Man champion Ali Day extended his record winning streak to eight races, after winning both the Enduro Surf and WaveCross events.

In the Iron Woman, Harriet Brown set up a commanding lead in the final board leg to clinch round one.

Not happy with second place the day before, defending champion Lana Rogers bounced back in round two to prevail in the eliminator-style sprint course.

Rounds four-six are scheduled to take place at Kurrawa on the Gold Coast from February 4-6.
