The best new movie trailers and TV show teasers for upcoming streaming titles

Inventing Anna

This is our second look at the upcoming Netflix limited series about high-profile fraudster Anna “Delvey” Sorokin, who fleeced seemingly everyone in her life. We learn a little more about Delvey in this official trailer, played by Julia Garner. The series itself is produced by Shondaland, the firm behind Grey’s Anatomy and Bridgerton. Catch it on February 11.

Yes, that’s right. Cuphead is getting an official show on Netflix. The show stars our title character and his brother Mugman as they search for adventure, danger, and the devil. The trailer itself is pretty incoherent, and there’s no clear evidence of a throughline or particular story. However, fans of the game will likely love seeing these characters untethered. The show lands on February 18.

Tall Girl 2

So, Tall Girl is getting a sequel. Ava Michelle reprises her role as Jodi, who is now beloved by everyone at her school but can’t seem to get to grips with her insecurities or her newfound popularity. A new love interest adds to the drama. The movie lands on Netflix on February 11.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power

This show is effectively set “thousands of years” before the events of The Hobbit when multiple rings were doled out to various factions. The trailer doesn’t give much if anything away, but expect more details in the coming months, as this show’s only due on September 2, 2022.

The Fallout

Jenna Ortega and Maddie Ziegler star in this high school drama that focuses on overcoming the emotional trauma of a school shooting. The flick has a relatively short 91-minute runtime and marks Megan Park’s directorial debut. Notably, it already has some pretty positive backing from critics after its premiere at SXSW 2021. Catch it on HBO Max from January 27.

Our Flag Means Death

Stede Bonnet is a “gentleman pirate” who abandons a life of assured luxury to become a man governed by the open seas. The show’s loosely based on the real late 1600s Barbadian pirate, but we can’t quite imagine Bonnet and crew were this comical. The show stars Rhys Darby, Taika Waititi (as Blackbeard), and Kristian Nairn and is produced by Piki Films.

WeCrashed

This retelling of WeWork’s downfall stars Jared Leto as the company’s co-founder, Adam Neumann, and Anne Hathaway as his wife, Rebekah. The show is primarily based on the Wondery podcast of the same name and debuts on March 18.

Severance

Adam Scott stars in this workplace thriller that takes work/life balance to the extreme. Mark (Scott) volunteers for a program called Severance, which keeps his memories, feelings, and relationships forged at work separate from his home self. It’s directed by Ben Stiller and stars a pretty incredible cast, including John Turturro, Christopher Walken, Patricia Arquette, and Britt Lower. Catch it from February 18.
