Spring in the UK might offer warmer temperatures and brighter days, but as travel rules ease, the promise of sun-kissed beaches is in reach. Though vast swathes of Europe are just beginning to warm up in March, you don’t need to travel far for a taste of the tropics. Where should you visit this March?

Tenerife

Tenerife is the largest of Spain’s Canary Islands, situated off the coast of West Africa, and as a result, boasts some sizzling temperatures.

Often hailed as a winter-sun destination, the thermometer begins to go up as the spring months approach.

March offers average highs of approximately 21C and very little rainfall.

The average flight time to Tenerife from the UK is four hours and 15 minutes, depending on your departure and arrival airports.

The Algarve, Portugal

The Algarve is Portugal’s southernmost region, known for its stunning beaches and golf resorts.

As a result, the area is extremely popular with UK holidaymakers looking to relax and unwind in the sun.

Though the weather in March is a little cooler than the peak summer months, it allows for plenty of exploring and is a great time for those who want to enjoy outdoor activities without overheating.

The average high is approximately 18C, so it’s still a good idea to pack a light jacket for the evenings.

Journey times are also particularly speedy, with the average flight time approximately two hours and 50 minutes from the UK.

Cape Verde

Cape Verde is arguably a bit of a stretch when it comes to short-haul destinations, but at just six hours on average, flight times are still bearable.

And the journey is certainly worth it for the tropical temperatures, sugar-coloured sands and rich culture.

Cape Verde is made is an archipelago and island country floating off the Atlantic off the west coast of Africa.

As you may imagine, in the summer months temperatures can be scorching.

In March, however, the average high is around 24C and there is a 53 percent chance of a clear, sunny day.
