Meanwhile Medvedev was asked what could happened when he faced the world No 4, after catching himself unintentionally imitating Auger-Aliassime’s grunt during their quarter-final.

“Well, he doesn’t grunt a lot, no? I’m definitely not going to start playing one-handed backhand, that’s for sure,” he smiled.

And he was complimentary of Tsitsipas’ game when looking ahead to his recovery period after his brutal four hour and 42 minute win.

“I never had this experience. I played some long matches but never like four hours and never won it to be able to play in two days. It’s far by midnight now. I’m going to have to see.

“Again, you know, if we look at the best, they were able to do it somehow. I don’t know how. But they were able to do it. So if I want to be a part of this group, even if I’m really far right now, I want to try to make it happen.

“I’m going to try to recover as well as possible, to be ready to play against Stefanos, because he’s a great player. I need to be at my best to beat him.”

Medvedev leads their head-to-head by six wins to two losses, with the 23-year-old’s only victories coming during his 2019 ATP Finals title run and his route to the French Open final last year.

It remains to be seen who’ll come out in their latest showdown, but if history is anything to go by, expect fireworks.

“We haven’t really spoken in the last couple of months, but our relationship is competitors on the court and kind of fighting for the same dream.”
