Jesse Lingard’s brother hits out at Man Utd’s treatment of ace in explosive Instagram post | Football | Sport

Manchester United winger Jesse Lingard has been a peripheral figure at Old Trafford once again this season – and now his brother has hit out at the club over their treatment of the player. Lingard returned to the north west in the summer following a successful loan spell with West Ham. But he has failed to make an impact for the Red Devils since his return.

Lingard’s United career appeared over as he linked-up with the Hammers at the end of last January.

But he dazzled in east London as he found the back of the net nine times and provided five assists in 16 outings – and there was hope he would reignite his Red Devils career.

Last summer he apparently turned down the opportunity to join West Ham on a permanent basis and instead opted to remain at Old Trafford and fight for his place in the team.

Former United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had given the player assurances that he would get more of an opportunity this campaign.

But Lingard has been handed just two starts all season – and one of those came in last month’s Champions League dead rubber against Young Boys after United had already qualified for the knockout stages of the competition.

Louie Scott took to Instagram a year to the day after Lingard signed for the Hammers and posted a picture of the player celebrating a goal for West Ham.

“A year ago today he was ‘allowed’ out on day release,” Scott wrote above the image next to three laughing face emojis.

“Now we know what Akon felt like,” he added underneath.

The post appears to suggest Lingard is being held as some sort of prisoner at Old Trafford and is being kept there against his wishes.
