England beat Afghanistan by 15 runs (DLS method) in the first semi-final of the ICC U19 World Cup to enter the final of the tournament for the first time in 24 years. Half-centuries from George Thomas (50), George Bell (56*) and Alex Horton (53*) helped England score 231/6 in 47 overs. The Afghans mounted a great challenge and seemed in control of the chase but spinner Rehan Ahmed (4/41) bowled a great penultimate over to help England snatch victory. This the first time the English team has managed to reach the final of the ICC U-19 World Cup, since winning it in 1998.
