Kate Middleton is a ‘modern royal’ expert says- ‘committed to showing off her skills’

Kate Middleton was officially named the patron of Rugby Football League and England Rugby today. The role was previously held by Prince Harry, who relinquished his royal duties in 2020. Following the annoucement, the Duchess of Cambridge wasted no time in getting involved as she was pictured visiting England’s rugby teams training sessions at Twickenham Stadium. 

Kate was seen taking part in a training session, throw a ball around with players and chatting to the mens and womens squads ahead of the Six Nations Championships and the Womens World Cup which will take place in New Zealand in the autumn. 

In a couple of images, Kate was lifted into the air to catch the ball. 

Express.co.uk spoke to body language expert Judi James about Kate’s involvement. 

She said: “Kate’s newest appointment as rugby ambassador seems to have finally promoted her as something of a modern, contemporary royal rather than the more elegant traditionalist that she normally presents as.

The duty as given to the Duchess of Sussex by the Queen with Kensington Palace saying: “These new patronages, which have been given to The Duchess by Her Majesty The Queen, closely align with Her Royal Highness’ longstanding passion for sport and the lifelong benefits it can provide, both within our communities and on an individual level.”
