Alice Arnold and Clare Balding met around 1999; their friendship blossoming over their passion for sport. They got together shortly afterwards, in 2002, after the racing commentator came out about her sexuality.

But Alice admitted at first, there was “very little” she found attractive about her future wife, as she appeared to be everything she would usually stay clear of.

In a new interview with The Times, The pair opened up about their realtionship, as Alice very honestly admitted: “There was very little about Clare that I found attractive at first.

“To be honest, everything about her was wrong!

“She ticked all the boxes of things I tend to avoid and didn’t have any of the qualities I thought I needed in a partner.
