Liverpool news: Harvey Elliott puts horror injury behind him with FA Cup goal – ‘I’m back’ | Football | Sport
Liverpool star Harvey Elliott appears to have put his horror injury behind him with a positive interview after scoring on his return to action. The Reds produced a 3-1 win to see off Cardiff City at Anfield and book their spot in the fifth round.
Elliott had been side-lined since dislocating his ankle against Leeds United back in September.
His comeback was confirmed when he emerged from the bench just before the hour mark, replacing Naby Keita with the score at 1-0.
Two more goals promptly followed, firstly through Takumi Minamino after Luis Diaz impressed fans with his tenacious tackle and cross, before Elliott got on the scoresheet with a tremendous swivel and volley.
Cardiff teenager Rubin Colwill bagged a late consolation for the visitors, and the Reds survived a late Diaz injury scare to cap off a joyous afternoon.

“I have to thank Joe Lewis – one of the physical therapists at Liverpool.
“He made me strong again – my mum and dad too, a big thank you to everyone at the LFC. I’m back now and the injury is behind me.
“I have to thank all the Liverpool fans for their support. It means the world to me and my family.”
Still just 18-years-old, Elliott is expected to play a prominent role for the Reds between now and the end of the season, when he could be firmly in the picture for a spot in the 2022 World Cup squad.
It remains to be seen whether Diaz will be similarly important under Klopp, with Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah yet to return from the Africa Cup of Nations.
An eye-catching haul of 14 goals in 18 league games for Porto this campaign encouraged Liverpool to splash out an initial £38million for his services, edging out Tottenham in the process.
And despite being limited to a cameo from the bench, he showed enough to excite fans at what could be on the horizon.
Elliott is likely to grab Sunday’s headlines though, as he gave the Reds extra reason to celebrate reaching the FA Cup fifth round for just the second time since Klopp took charge at Anfield.
