Drake NFL bets, Odell Beckham Jr injury, Rams defeat Bengals

Rapper Drake was a notable attendee at today’s Super Bowl, and for good reason, after he had close to $1.8 million (AUD) riding on a combination of bets; the LA Rams to win alongside prop bets on enigmatic wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.

Prior to the Rams’ history-making 23-20 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, Drake stunned football fans when he went public with three big bets placed in the lead-up to the game.

The 35-year-old hip hop artist placed $1.6 million Canadian dollars worth of Bitcoin across three bets. Converted to Australian dollars, it equates to $1.77 million.

He first slapped on $661,000 (AUD) for the Rams to win, which they did, for a total return of $999,000.

But he was hit with some unfortunate luck after Beckham Jr, who scored the opening touchdown of the Super Bowl, went down in the first half with a knee injury and didn’t return.

Drake had $551,000 (AUD) on Beckham Jr to be an any time touchdown scorer, which proved successful with a total return of $1.185 million.

But he also had $A551,000 on Beckham Jr to notch over 62.5 receiving yards – a number he looked certain to breeze by until a nasty injury ended his game late in the first half.

Beckham Jr had racked up 52 receiving yards to that point but sat out the rest of the game.

Moments before the wide receiver went down injured, legendary NFL tight end Shannon Sharpe declared Drake’s bet was a lock to win, rubbing salt in the wound when the twist of fate went against him.
