While removing Masi from his role as race director would seem like the best move for all involved considering the drama and controversy which has unfolded since Abu Dhabi, it fails to correct the real issue at hand.
Martin Brundle explained in the aftermath of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix that while he’s not in full support of Masi keeping his position, there should be another matter addressed.
Masi was thrust into the limelight as F1’s race director in 2019 after Charlie Whiting’s sudden passing.
In the years since, F1 has changed dramatically with that role now seemingly too big for just one person.
“What I absolutely know for sure, is that changing Michael Masi would not fix the problem,” Brundle said.
