For anyone who has played The Last of Us 2, we all know how brutal and intense the fighting scenes are coupled with the menacing narrative tones throughout.

Due to Naughty Dog insane attention to detail, it’s not a rare occurrence to find new and exciting aspects in The Last of Us 2 even if you’ve played it more than twice but some fans think they may have stumbled onto a never before seen Ellie execution animation that’s just as savage as you’d aspect.

While playing through the game as Ellie, Reddit user The84th came across this very different execution style that saw the protagonist initially throw a brick at the enemy to stun them. Seconds later, the clip showed Ellie running full force towards the foe with her machete in both hands and slicing the poor sod straight down the middle of their head. Ouch!

Even though there are plenty of cool kill animations in TLOU2, this particular one seemed to be quite rare among fans who agreed in the comments of the video that they too hadn’t come across this one before. The reason that some players may not have triggered this specific execution previously is that many kill from a distance with the game’s ranged weapons and leave getting up close and personal as the last resort or when they are surprised.

Either way, it’s still really cool to see new animations being brought to light over a year and a half since The Last of Us 2 was released.

If you were hoping to get stuck into HBO’s The Last of Us this year, it seems that we will have to wait until 2023. HBO chief content officer Casey Bloys told The Hollywood Reporter that “they’re still shooting in Calgary” and ” I imagine you will see it in ’23.”
