Eamonn Holmes has opened up about his exit from ITV in a new candid interview. The presenter, who now works at GB News, took to Twitter to share more insight into him leaving, as well as what he thinks about ITV’s response.

In an interview released today, Eamonn shared how he had “no idea” why he’d been dropped from presenting This Morning.

This came after he and his wife Ruth Langsford were replaced on the show by Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary in 2021.

The broadcaster explained this is what ultimately led to his exit from the channel.

Speaking about this, Eamonn said he was not told why this happened, branding ITV “sly” over the move.

He said to the Daily Mail’s Weekend Magazine: “No one explained anything to me.

“I’m all for TV companies being able to choose who works for them, but it would be nice if you were told why you were going.

“They’re sly. They didn’t want to announce that I’d been dropped because it would adversely affect audience figures, so they made it look as if I’d walked away from them rather than the other way round.

“They had a chat with my agent and announced that I was going to GB News when they’d done no more than ask if I’d be interested in joining them.”

Now Eamonn has reacted to this, as he opened up about the interview to his Twitter followers this morning.

He responded to one fan named Miguel Carreras who wrote: “Great article in this weekends @DailyMailUK with @EamonnHolmes pulling no punches like his fellow Irishman Barry McGuigan.

“He’s basically said what we all thought. @itv went full #woke and dumped him and his wife from #ThisMorning – anyway.

“As he knows I love him on @GBNEWS.”

Responding to this, Eamonn penned: “Just don’t believe The Itv response” with a rolling eyes emoji. (sic)

Football broadcaster Richard Keys also waded in with his thoughts on the article.

He penned: “A great read @EamonnHolmes. Good on you.

“We all agree diversity is the way forward – but when will that happen in male pale & stale tv management?

“I’m delighted it’s going so well at @GBNEWS. Class is permanent my friend.”

Eamonn then quipped back about ITV: “Thank you ….. they know they got off lightly.”

In a series of over tweets, the presenter also reacted to people praising his interview with praying and smiling face emojis.
