Modi coming to inaugurate incomplete projects: Sharad Pawar

Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar on Saturday took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his proposed visit to Pune on Sunday, saying that it was to inaugurate infrastructure projects that were not yet complete. The government, Pawar said, should be focusing more on evacuating students stuck in war-torn Ukraine.

The NCP chief, however, also noted that the government was doing all it could to evacuate the students and that there should be no blame game on the issue.

“I know that there are some important projects in Pune that will take several years to complete which are now going to be inaugurated by the Prime Minister. But, besides these projects, the issue of the evacuation of the students from Ukraine is more important. Let’s hope that those who are in power are taking this seriously,” he told reporters in Pune. Pawar said some students in Ukraine had informed him about their situation amid continued Russian shelling and firing.

“The other issue is that since India remained neutral during the UN voting, the Ukraine is upset with (us) and are harassing Indian students…,” he said.
