From Mr. Freeze to Court of Owls, Here Are Some of the Villains That Might Appear in the Batman Sequel

The Batman released to great reviews from both fans and critics with praises about the movie’s direction, setting and casting.

While Robert Pattinson gave fans a great portrayal of the Dark Knight, the villains in the movie also stepped up big time with characters such as the Riddler, Carmine Falcone, and Penguin by Paul Dano, John Turturro and Colin Farrell, respectively.

With plans of a sequel in the future, Matt Reeves has stated that he would love to explore the depths of Batman’s Rogues Gallery, and in this movie, he has even set some of them up.

So, based on suggestions and hints from the cast and crew, here are the top 5 Rogues that will most likely appear in The Batman sequel.

Mr. Freeze

One of the more interesting suggestions regarding a future villain for Pattinson’s Batman is Mr. Freeze aka Dr. Victor Fries.

Matt Reeves has mentioned that he would love to incorporate a grounded version of the character in a sequel, and it seems like he’s very down to do a villain that hasn’t been explored much in live action.

Court of Owls

The Court of Owls is another group of rogues that Robert Pattinson and Matt Reeves have expressed their interest in adding to The Batman mythos.

With Gotham being a central focus of the new franchise’s storyline, the Court of Owls is a perfect choice as it would see Bruce Wayne trying to uncover the truths about the city he’s trying to protect.

Joker

The Batman ended with a wild scene featuring Paul Dano’s Riddler and another Arkham Asylum inmate played by Barry Keoghan.

The scene suggested that the character might be Batman’s arch-nemesis in Joker, and Reeves has even confirmed it in recent interviews. While the character has been adapted in live action a lot of times, fans can’t get enough of the Clown Prince of Crime, and they would love to see Reeves’ take on the iconic villain.

Two Face

With the death of District Attorney Gil Colson at the hands of the Riddler, Gotham is on the lookout for a new DA that will help eradicate crime post flooding.

Enter Harvey Dent, who would be looking to assist Pattinson’s Batman in stopping crime. However, there’s a very good chance that he might take the villainous route soon as Two-Face, who would be another thorn in the Caped Crusader’s side.

Bane

During the final battle against Riddler’s army, a knocked-out Batman injected a green liquid on his leg, which made him quite rageful, with him almost killing one of the henchmen.

Many fans suggested that instead of adrenaline, it seems like the Dark Knight injected Venom which gave him the sudden rush of energy and rage. Venom is also the powerful liquid that Batman rogue Bane has used over the years to remain powerful, and this little nod could be a sign of his future appearance in the franchise.
