The biggest wedding in Bollywood, yes you`ve read it right, is said to start soon. The wedding festivities, which are said to begin today, April 13, 2022, and will go on until April 19, has a 5-day celebration affair! But do you know intricate details about Alia`s big day? The menu, the venue, the lehenga, the guest list, we all plan it for several months and days. And some, have their special day planned and replayed in their minds more than once in their head for years.
Amid all the wedding rumours, on Tuesday, April 12, the brideto-be’s half-brother Rahul Bhatt threw a curveball when he claimed that the shaadi of the year had been postponed to April 20, owing to security concerns. Alia’s paternal uncle Robin Bhatt, however, confirmed to mid-day that the nuptials are lined up on April 14, as per the original plan.
Well, this is going to be the same for bride-to-be Alia! As the rumours will be set aside soon after the social media confirmation, let`s take a look at some more details about the `Ralia` wedding.
The Venue
Ranbir and Alia, who have been dating for around four years, are reportedly gearing up for their wedding this April. The rumours further claim that the couple will tie the knot in an intimate ceremony at RK house in Chembur, Mumbai, just like late star Rishi Kapoor and veteran actor Neetu Kapoor`s wedding ceremonies took place in 1980. Decorative lights have been put up at Ranbir’s under-construction building that is coming up in place of Krishna Raj bungalow in Bandra, where the actor used to stay with his parents. Sources say that it is a part of the shagun to light up the places owned by the family when an important occasion is being celebrated. Since no under-construction building in Mumbai has ever been decorated with lights, surely the reason is special for this particular upcoming highrise.
The menu
Considering it is a Punjabi shaadi in the Kapoor clan, who are known to be big foodies, Neetu Kapoor has reportedly flown down chefs from Delhi and Lucknow to whip up several specialities for the five-day celebrations. Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s wedding menu will apparently boast of a wide variety of cuisines from Continental, Mexican to Italian, apart from Punjabi and Mughlai dishes. Almost 50 counters will be set up that will also serve Delhi chaat and Lucknowi specialities like kebabs and biryanis. That’s not all, 25 counters will dish out vegetarian and vegan delicacies since the bride-to-be is vegan.
The outfit
With only a few days left for Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt`s speculated marriage, preparations for the upcoming festivities seem to be in full swing as the groom`s wedding outfit arrived on Monday at his residence. A car was spotted at RK`s house filled with Sabyasachi outfits. Manish Malhotra and Sabyasachi Mukherjee are said to be creating Alia’s wedding outfits, while Ranbir has entrusted his designer Samidha Wangnoo to style him for the big day.
The D-day
Earlier there was no official confirmation on Alia-Ranbir`s wedding date, however, as per mid-day`s report on April 13, Ranbir and Alia Bhatt`s wedding is scheduled to take place on April 14, according to Alia`s uncle Robin Bhatt.The ceremonies for the most eagerly awaited wedding in Bollywood are set to begin today at RK House in Chembur. The celebrations will kick off with the mehndi on April 13, followed by haldi and sangeet the next day and the baaraat on April 15. While the couple will have a Punjabi wedding in the wee hours of April 16, we now hear that they may have an intimate exchange of vows before taking the saat pheras. Apparently, Ranbir and Alia have already written their respective vows that they will read out to each other in the presence of both families.
The security
Though intimate, the high-profile wedding will have ample security. Over 200 bouncers have been booked to ensure everything goes smoothly. Also, massive curtains have already been added to the venue for any pictures of the bride and the groom to be leaked by the paparazzi. The pictures of flowy white drapes have already surfaced online, leaving the followers more curious about the details.
For the unversed, after Alia Bhatt’s uncle Robin Bhatt revealed the dates of her wedding with Ranbir Kapoor, both families have been given a strict diktat to not reveal anything about the upcoming Punjabi wedding. Her uncle Mukesh Bhatt has reportedly said that his sister-in-law (Alia’s mother Soni Razdan) has told everyone to refrain from talking about the wedding. The veteran producer has been quoted as saying, “I am not in a position to tell anything at this time. After their marriage, I will give a complete interview about when and how the marriage took place.”
