Netflix recently released the much-awaited Part 2 of Stranger Things Season 4, which ended Eleven’s struggle against Vecna, at least for now. In the final two episodes, Eleven awakens her powers and decides to save her friends from this new enemy. Meanwhile, kids at the Hawkins devise a plan to kill Henry by returning to the Upside Down. Max volunteers to become bait while Steve, Nancy, and Robin try to kill Vecna. In the end, Eleven and the rest of the gang overpower Henry, but they don’t exactly win the fight.
Vecna claims his fourth and final victim to bring the Upside Down to Hawkins. While the rest of Hawkins believes that an earthquake opened the gateway to Hell, Eleven and her friends get ready for the ultimate battle against the Mind Flayer, which would be the main focus of Season 5 of Stranger Things.
The ending of Season 4’s final episode confirmed that Eleven’s story isn’t over yet. We’ve yet to see the Hawkins gang’s final stand against the Upside Down. Apart from that, we still don’t know much about Upside Down’s origin and its story. The show has yet to answer how this mirror dimension came into existence and what exactly is the end goal of Mind Flayer. Well, in an interview with Variety, the Duffer Brothers confirmed that Season 5 would dive deep into Upside Down’s lore. The new season will finally reveal who’s the main villain of this story, Vecna or Mind Flayer. Also, there are chances that we’ll see a time jump in Season 5.
It’s exciting that Stranger Things will return with Season 5; however, the showrunners confirmed that it would be the final season of the popular Tv series. In an official statement, the writers said that the fifth season will finish the tale of this “powerful girl named Eleven and her brave friends, of a broken police chief and a ferocious mom, of a small town called Hawkins, and an alternate dimension known as Upside Down.”
The same letter also hints at possible spin-offs of Stranger Things. Apparently, the writers have more exciting stories to tell within the world of Stranger Things. So, it’s safe to say that the franchise will live on after Season 5, but the fifth season will end Eleven’s journey.

There was a time gap of three years between Season 3 and Season 4’s release; however, COVID-19 was one of the significant reasons for Stranger Things’ extended absence. So, if the production of Season 5 goes smoothly, we can expect the show to return sometime in 2024. But of course, it’s too soon for Netflix or the Duffer Brothers to give us an official release window for Season 5.
