Do you ever place your smartphone screen-down on a surface?

The Nothing Phone 1 has finally been revealed in full, with one of its standout features being the LED light array on the back. This isn’t exactly a game-changing feature, but does light up for notifications, charging, and other tasks.

This means the phone needs to be placed screen-down if you want to make the most of these light effects. That got me wondering how many people place their phones face-down on a surface in the first place. That’s the topic of our poll this week, so let us know via the survey below.

Do you ever place your phone face-down on a surface?

Aside from not wanting to be distracted by a screen in the first place, some phones even have a flip-to-silence feature that toggles silent mode when the phone detects that it’s face-down on a surface. So there are certainly practical reasons to put your phone down like this.

I can’t speak for everyone who prefers to place their phone screen-up on a surface instead of face-down, but I prefer to do so because I still worry about scratches on the display (even though Gorilla Glass means this shouldn’t be a major concern anymore). It also means I can see who’s calling, even when the phone is on silent.
