Australian swimming star Emma McKeon has raced in hundreds of Olympic and Commonwealth Games events, but there’s one thing that makes her more excited than her own races.
Apparently that one thing is watching her partner Cody Simpson race.
Simpson joined countryman Matt Temple in the final of the 100m butterfly, but not after a massive scare which saw him finish third in his semi-final and fifth fastest overall for the final.
“I was very excited for him,” McKeon told Channel 7 after Simpson’s race
“I get that when watching him and other people that are close to me, more than I do for my own races. I am excited to watch him.”
Simpson’s 100m butterfly final will be held on day five, in the early hours of Wednesday morning (AEST).
