The troubles for the remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic continue, as it seems like the title has a new studio.

According to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, the Embracer Group has decided to relieve Aspyr Media from its developmental duties, and instead it has handed over the remake of the famed Star Wars title to Saber Interactive.

Aspyr Media had been handling the development for Star Wars KOTOR for quite some time until three weeks ago, when the project indefinitely put on hold, with multiple key members of the developmental team fired as well. The previous report had suggested that various stakeholders of the Embracer Group were disappointed with the progress made by the Texas-based Aspyr Media, alongside PlayStation and Lucasfilm, who held similar views as well.

The Embracer Group had recently teased about the developmental of AAA title making a transition, and now it’s confirmed that that the game in question is the KOTOR remake.

The title was announced to much hype during last years’ PlayStation Showcase. However, the project has been saddled by a list of problems that seem to keep on growing. With the recent change of hands, it’s been reported that Star Wars fans will have to wait until 2024 to feast on the remake of the hit 2003 RPG title, which was originally developed by BioWare.
