DWP issues update on benefit payment date change due to bank holiday | Personal Finance | Finance

Universal Credit payments are usually paid once a month into a claimant’s bank or building society account.

If someone receives their first payment on the 19th of the month, which is the date of the bank holiday, they will continue to receive suspended payments from the DWP on that day.

In comparison, the new state pension is usually paid every four weeks into an account of the claimant’s choice.

Someone’s pension date is dependent on their National Insurance number. If someone has numbers from 00 to 19 as the last two digits of their National Insurance number and gets paid usually on a Monday, they are likely to have been paid early due to the bank holiday.
