Former boxer Matt Macklin believes an announcement is imminent regarding Tyson Fury’s potential fight with Anthony Joshua. Fury and Joshua had initially agreed to meet in one of the biggest fights in British boxing history on December 3 in Cardiff.

Fury however claimed the fight was off on Monday, after his fellow English heavyweight rival failed to sign the contract before the tight deadline he had set. After making previous posts on social media enbcouraging Joshua to sign he then took to Instagram. The Gypsy King said in the video: “Well guys, it’s official. D-day has come and gone.

“It’s gone past five o’clock, Monday. No contract has been signed. It’s officially over for Joshua. He is now out in the cold with the wolfpack. Forget about it,” before labelling Joshua an: “idiot, coward, sh**house … and a bodybuilder.”

He continued: “Always knew it. Always knew you didn’t have the minerals to fight the Gypsy King. Regardless of what the f*** you say now, I don’t really care. Good luck with your career, and your life. End of. Peace out.”

“I would imagine over the next 10 days, two weeks this fight will get put to bed, contracts will get signed and it will be announced.” Regardless of Fury’s comments surrounding the contract failures, the former fighter believes that there will still be ‘big meetings’ going on behind the scenes to get the fight on.

He went on: “I think it is just in the process now. It is with the lawyers, it is with the broadcasters. Big meetings will be going on, people will be sending drafts across, they’ll be looking at it going through it. These things can’t be rushed, but I think it will happen.”
