Stranger Things The Experience review: Hawkins come to life | Theatre | Entertainment

Stranger Things season four continued to explore that certain retro-futuristic nostalgia for the 1980s earlier this year. The Netflix show took over music charts around the world with Metallica and Kate Bush, while (yet again) reinstating a love for Dungeons & Dragons.

Crucially, though, Stranger Things is more than just a retro vibe. It has a powerful and intricately written story permeating through it. And Stranger Things: The Experience manages to bring both of these key aspects to life.

Punters will be welcomed into the “sleep study” at Hawkins’ lab in the middle of a secret location in the outskirts of London to figure out what, exactly, has been going on in Hawkins.

Instantly, you’re transported to the small, American town in the 1980s – and it’s all thanks to the cast and crew of The Experience.

Every character, from doctor to orderly, held an incredible Hawkins cadence and really brought the wild adventure to life.

Stranger Things fans will then be taken to study rooms to see if they have any extrasensory powers – like that of Millie Bobby Brown’s Eleven. But wait, something quickly goes wrong.

During an unexpected power cut, guests will be visited by a plethora of cameos that guide them through a thrilling, nail-biting adventure that is complete with some fascinating technology, amazing jump scares, and some actual storytelling.

From the Demogorgons to the gruesome Vecna, guests will see it all during this (approximately) two-hour adventure.

However, the final moments of the story are where things really heat up. Using jaw-dropping 3D technology, fans will be transported to a brutal, horrifying battle between some Demobats, Eleven, and the fate of the world.

The spectacular last moments are somehow improved upon by the final area fans can visit: Starcourt Mall.

Guests will be dropped off into an unbelievable Starcourt Mall experience complete with Scoops Ahoy, Surfer Boy Pizza, an arcade, and Will Byers’ living room.

These attractions are not just window-dressing, however. This is immersive entertainment at its finest. Not only can fans wander through the mall, enjoy its delicacies, and take photos to their hearts’ content, but they will actually feel transported to Hawkins in real-time.

Stranger Things fans should not delay: Buy tickets as soon as you can before they run out, and before the attraction concludes.

For that added special treatment, VIP tickets are available which allow punters to queue-jump, as well as receive a special gift that is exclusive to the experience.

Tickets for Stranger Things: The Experience are available now.
