As the cost-of-living crisis continues to ravage Britain, so it is unsurprising that most people want to find the cheapest supermarket offers and deals to lower the price of their weekly grocery shop. Some supermarkets are cheaper than others, and one has been crowned the most affordable of all: Aldi.

Aldi has been named the UK’s cheapest supermarket by consumer group Which? for the fourth month in a row.

Shoppers can save a huge £23.79 at Aldi compared to the most expensive supermarket, for an equivalent basket of items.

To calculate which supermarket is cheapest, Which? looked at the cost of a basket of 48 items, including groceries and household essentials.

Aldi’s 48 items were cheaper – adding up to a total of £75.61.

Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi, said: “The upcoming months remain uncertain for so many across the UK, and we want to help make this difficult time a little easier for our valued customers.

“We are committed to providing our customers with the very best quality at prices that don’t break the bank, and we’re thrilled to be yet again recognised as the UK’s cheapest supermarket by Which?.”

Aldi was named the cheapest supermarket by Which? back in September too.

At the time, a basket of 49 items bought from the supermarket cost £76.24.

Meanwhile, a similar basket at Waitrose would set customers back £102.20.

Therefore, last month, Waitrose was the most expensive supermarket in the UK.

Exactly like this month, Lidl was the second cheapest supermarket in September, while Asda was the third.

Aldi has now been the cheapest supermarket in the UK for four consecutive months. The discount retailer is popular among Britons and is the fifth largest supermarket in the country, with more than 960 stores and around 38,000 colleagues.
