The longest-ruling monarch of the United Kingdom, Queen Elizabeth II passed away at her estate in Balmoral, Scotland on September 8. She was 96 years old and led the UK for 70 years, the longest in British history. Her Majesty’s life was full of stellar achievements and various royal duties, but she never let that affect her love for an elegant and stylish wardrobe. From frocks with lace, cinched summer midi dresses and extravagant hats, the monarch’s personal style reflected her taste for gorgeous, one-of-a-kind statement pieces and she carried them all with panache.

In this striking red ensemble, the Queen glowed while holding on to her son, Prince Charles, who is now the King of the UK, post the monarch’s death. The luxurious, thick, woollen coat was accented with jewelled brooches. Her Majesty’s hat possibly stole the show as it featured a striking red bow replete with a delicate black net attached. This picture was taken at King Charles III’ baptism ceremony in 1948.

In this picture of Her Majesty taken in 1952, she wore a Norman Hartnell satin evening dress, the George IV Diamond Diadem, and a diamond bracelet that was a wedding gift from The Duke of Edinburgh. Interestingly, the necklace was given to then Princess Elizabeth as a wedding present in 1947 from the Nizam of Hyderabad.
