Acer Announces Predator Helios 18 and 16 and 2 New Predator Gaming OLED Monitors

CES 2023 has kicked off and so far, we have received some fantastic products from a range of manufacturers and industry leaders. Acer was also present at the showcase, and they have introduced some exciting new products.

Firstly, they announced the new range of Windows 11 Gaming Laptops as part of the Predator range in Predator Helios 18 and Predator Helios 16. Both feature 13th Gen Intel Core Processors and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 Series GPUs.

They have also announced two new gaming monitors, the Predator X45 and Predator X27U, featuring OLED displays and other gaming features to take the gameplay experience to the next level.

Predator Helios 16

Predator Helios 16 sports a 16-inch display with a resolution of 2560×1600, and users can choose refresh rates of 165Hz or 240Hz. These displays are also supported by AUO AMLED technology, which provides a peak brightness of 1000 nits.

The Predator Helios 16 has two variants in terms of the processor. Players can either go for the 13th Gen Intel Core i9 or i7 HX processors. In terms of GPU, they can expect the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 Laptop GPU.

Both Predator Helios laptops have advanced thermals through the dual custome-engineered 5th Gen AeroBlade 3D metal fans and vector heat pipes. On top of that, the liquid metal thermal grease helps with additional cooling.

In terms or storage, users can choose up to 32 GB DDR5-4800 MHz RAM and up to 2 TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD in RAID 0. which will run even the heaviest games as smooth as ever. The laptop is also aesthetically pleasing as it comes with a customizable RGB light bar on the top of the vents at the back.

There is a new dedicated mode key on the keyboard that helps the players seamlessly transition for improved performance for their games. It also features the PredatorSense key, which can be used to open up an app, and also switch on the Predator Pulsar lighting.

For connections, the Helios 16 has the Intel Killer E2600 Ethernet Controller and Intel Killer Wi-Fi 6E AX1675 frequency band, which help with faster and more reliable connections. It also sports USB 3.2 Gen2 Ports, HDMI 2.1, USB Type-C and Thunderbolt 4.

Predator Helios 18

The Predator Helios 18, as the name states, has an 18-inch display with resolution options to choose from. Players can either go for the 1920×1080 at 165Hz or 2560×1600 at 165Hz or 240Hz like the Predator Helios 16.

Similarly, the Predator Helios 18 also has two variants in terms of the process – the 13th Gen Intel Core i9 or i7 HX. In terms of GPU, the 18-inch laptop also comes with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 Laptop GPU.

As mentioned earlier, the Predator Helios 18 also has advanced thermals through the dual custome-engineered 5th Gen AeroBlade 3D metal fans and vector heat pipes, along with the liquid metal thermal grease.

Predator Helios 18 also sports 32 GB DDR5-4800 MHz RAM and up to 2 TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD in RAID 0 for storage. It also has a customisable RGB light bar on the back vents just like the Helios 16.

The Predator Helios 18 also has a mode key that players can use to improve performance for their games. It also features the PredatorSense key, which can be used to open up an app, and also switch on the Predator Pulsar lighting.

Same as Helios 16, the Helios 18 comes with Intel Killer E2600 Ethernet Controller and Intel Killer Wi-Fi 6E AX1675 frequency band. It also features USB 3.2 Gen2 Ports, HDMI 2.1, USB Type-C and Thunderbolt 4. Another great detail is that each of these laptops features a month of free Xbox Game Pass or PC Game Pass to have the players ready to play games from the get go.

Predator Helios 18

Predator X45 Gaming Monitor

Coming to the gaming monitors, the Predator X45 has an ultra-wide QHD OLED display with a resolution of 3440×1440. It is a 45-inch curved monitor with 800R curvature, while having a narrow frame. It also sports 98.5% DCI-P3 colour gamut for vivid visuals. It has a refresh rate of 240Hz with 0.1ms response time along with AMD FreeSync Premium.

In terms of ports, it has a DisplayPort 1.4 and 2 HDMI 2.0 ports and is TUV Rheinland EyeSafe certified. The OLED panel will provide the players with 1000 nits of peak brightness supported by HDR10. It also comes with an adjustable stand for added customisation.

Predator X27U Gaming Monitor

The Predator X27U on the other hand has a smaller 27-inch wide QHD flat screen with a resolution of 2560X1440. It has a refresh rate of 240Hz with 0.1ms response time along with AMD FreeSync Premium.

The Predator X27U also provides 98.5% DCI-P3 colour gamut. It provides a peak brightness of 1000 nits, supported by HDR10. Similarly, this monitor is also TUV Rheinland EyeSafe certified, which makes your eyes much safe.

Both monitors come with KVM switches to seamlessly transition between Desktops and Laptops without changing the mouse and keyboard. They both also have a USB hub with USB Type-C connections to add other devices

Pricing and Availability

Starting with the Predator Helios 16, it will be available in North America from March 2023 and for Europe, Middle East, China and Africa it will arrive a bit earlier in February 2023. Pricing for Predator Helios 16 starts at USD 1,649.99 or EUR 2,399 or RMB 17,999.

Then comes the Predator Helios 18, which will be available in North America from April 2023, for Europe Middle East and Africa in March 2023 and China in February 2023. Pricing for Predator Helios 18 starts at USD 1,699 or EUR 2,499 or RMB 20,999.

Then for the Predator X45 Gaming monitor, it becomes available in North America, Europe, Middle East and Africa from Q2 2023 and for China in Q1 2023. The pricing for Predator X45 starts at USD 1,699 or EUR 1,799 or RMB 12,999.

Lastly the Predator X27U, it will also become available in North America, Europe, Middle East and Africa from Q2 2023 and for China in Q1 2023. The pricing for the Predator X27U will start at USD 1,099 or EUR 1,099 or RMB 7,999.
