Warning: Spoilers for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse ahead!
Spider-Verse fans were dealt with some major news during CinemaCon 2022 about Sony’s upcoming sequel in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
The 2023 animated movie is one of the most hyped projects for next year, and while it was recently postponed from 2022, fans have a ton of excitement, as the original provided a new and exciting experience for them with its beautiful visuals and solid plot.
At CinemaCon 2022, producers Chris Lord and Phil Miller shared some details on the work being done on the project, which will feature around 240 characters from six universes, and some lucky fans even got to watch the footage of the movie’s 15 minutes.

While the footage hasn’t leaked on the internet (yet), The Wrap recently reported on its contents, and according to the report, it seems like the movie doesn’t waste any time with regards to the action.
The preview allegedly starts off with a conversation between Gwen Stacy and her father in Earth-65, with the latter trying to apprehend Spider-Woman for allegedly killing her universe’s Peter Parker. However, they are soon interrupted by the Vulture, who is causing havoc in New York City.
During Vulture’s battle with Gwen, the former gains the upper hand. However, Spider-Woman is eventually saved by Oscar Isaac’s Miguel O’Hara aka Spider-Man 2099. They’re then joined by another variant of Spider-Woman in the pregnant Jessica Drew, who will be played in the upcoming movie by Issa Rae.
After defeating the Vulture together, O’Hara reveals that the final fight from Into the Spider-Verse against Kingpin caused several tears in the multiverse. Later on, Gwen’s father finally catches up to Spider-Woman, and holds her to gunpoint, as he tries to arrest her for “killing” Spider-Man. This leads to Gwen unmasking herself in front of him, as she tried to plead her innocence to her father. Even then, her father carried on with her arrest, but, she was soon rescued by O’Hara and Drew, who attacked Gwen’s father before running off together.
The movie then shifts its focus to Brooklyn in Earth 1610, where Miles Morales is attempting to get admission in Columbia University’s physics program, as he plans to jump multiverses in order to meet Gwen again.
To know more about the rest of the movie, fans will have to wait until 2023, when Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will release in theatres around the world, and after learning about the exciting adventure in the movie’s 15 minutes, the film can’t come sooner for the comic book movie community.
