The AFL has once again announced a price freeze on all general admission tickets to matches played at the MCG and Marvel Stadium this season.

The freeze is the fourth consecutive season where the AFL has locked in its ticket prices having done so in 2019, 2020 and 2021.

Adults will be able to attend matches for $27, while concession card-holders will have to pay just $18 for a ticket. Children’s tickets remain at $5, with kids under four able to attend for free.

In an new initiative aimed at getting families to attend the football, the AFL has introduced a new $50 family ticket which can secure entry for two adults and two children. Those tickets purchased individually would cost a total of $64.

AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan said the league wants to help the state of Victoria bounce back after two challenging COVID-19 affected years.

“Footy can hopefully help bring the heartbeat of the city back to Melbourne and back to the state of Victoria. Secure you tickets, get your memberships and we look forward to seeing the stands filled again to begin the AFL season,” McLachlan said in a statement.

Fans will be able to purchase tickets for matches between Rounds 1-5 in the first week of March. AFL and club members will have first access on March 1, before general public gain access from March 2.

The 2022 home and away season will get underway on March 16 in a grand final rematch between Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs at the MCG.
