The AFL has banished the post-goal music for Saturday’s grand final.
That’s what SEN has reported as Geelong and Sydney get set to meet in the decider at the MCG, after the league again copped a barrage of complaints following the preliminary final between the Cats and Brisbane Lions at the Melbourne venue.
The AFL wanted to blast the tunes after every goal throughout the entirety of the finals series, but the MCC approached the league after the Cats-Lions game and the decision to ditch the music was made.

What time will the grand final start?
The opening bounce of the grand final is set for 2.30pm (AEST) on Saturday, September 24.
What is the venue for the grand final?
The grand final will be played at the MCG for the first time since 2019.
COVID-19 resulted in the 2020 grand final being hosted by the Gabba and the 2021 decider by Perth Stadium.

The Swans beat the Cats in the only clash between the two sides yet this season, overcoming Geelong 17.5 (107) to 10.17 (77) at the SCG in round two.
Last meeting in a finals match:
Geelong trumped Sydney in the most recent finals match between the two sides, downing the Swans 15.8 (98) to 5.9 (39) in a 2017 semi-final at the MCG.

Geelong finished two wins clear on top of the ladder and reached the grand final in straight sets. Chris Scott’s men toppled Collingwood 11.12 (78) to 10.12 (72) in a qualifying final at the MCG, before thrashing Brisbane in a preliminary final 18.12 (120) to 7.7 (49) at the same venue.
Sydney finished in third on the ladder and opened its finals campaign with a 14.7 (91) to 10.9 (69) qualifying final win over Melbourne at the MCG. John Longmire’s men then edged Collingwood 14.11 (95) to 14.10 (94) in a preliminary final at the SCG.
