Amanda Mealing, 55, took aim at Kym Marsh on social media after she found out last night that she will be taking part in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing. Amanda took to Twitter to express her surprise as she anticipated that she will be “having words” with Kim, who appeared last night in the series’ launch show.

She tweeted: “I’ve been directing Kim Marsh since April and she didn’t mention a word about @bbcstrictly.

“My guilty pleasure and she said nothing.

“I’ll be having words with HER!” Amanda jokingly added.

Amanda had been directing a number episodes of Waterloo Road this year, with Kym portraying Nicky Walters in the show.

Kym recently opened up about her decision to join the Strictly lineup this year and what inspired her to take on the challenge.

Ahead of the launch, Kym vowed to “grab things with both hands” following advice from her beloved father.

The actress admitted she had been asked to appear on the show before but “never thought it was the right time”.

However, her perspective changed once her dad was diagnosed with cancer.

Kym went on to explain the words of advice her dad gave her, which helped her “look at thing differently”.

She added to The Sun: “My dad told me, ‘You never know what’s round the corner so grab things with both hands.’

“But you don’t think about that until an event happens. It makes you look at things differently.”

Strictly launched last night after the debut instalment was postponed following the death of Britain’s longest reigning monarch, Queen Elizabeth II.

A total of 15 celebrities broke the ice as they took to the dance floor to show the judges what they had been working on.

Kym has been paired with professional dancer Graziano Di Prima, who joined the show in 2018.

Kym found out about her pairing while on the set of Morning Live, confessing that her “stomach was churning, but I was delighted!”.

Strictly Come Dancing’s first live show starts today at 6.45pm on BBC One.
