Apple and Spotify in Talks to Let Siri Play Spotify Tracks

Apple and Spotify are in talks to let Siri find out music content from Spotify. Siri lets users of the iOS device fetch music from Apple Music library. And now, Spotify is asking Apple to fetch its content through its Siri Assistant.

Reported by the Information, with this new Siri Integration, Apple users will not let send voice commands to play songs, playlists and albums from Spotify through Siri. The new Siri integration for Spotify will be included in the iOS 13 update.

Apple is introducing a brand-new Siri assistant that will do numerous tasks for you including the Spotify’s integration. Siri will play music, podcasts, radio, audiobooks and much more the third-party apps. This is the same feature that the two companies have been discussing since few months. The new SiriKit will include a host of new features for the users.

The changed SiriKit will let Spotify and other apps developers integrate Siri into their personal apps. This will let users take full control of audio playbacks from the device and other apps using different commands.

If we talk about the new Spotify’s integration, users will be able to play different tracks using a common command such as “Hey Siri, play Shape of you from Spotify.” This specific command will fetch music from the Spotify app instead of Apple Music from your iOS device.

Apart from the Audio playbacks, Apple’s Siri is already available for third-party messaging apps. With proper Siri commands, iOS users can send text messages from WhatsApp and other third-party apps instead of the default Messaging apps.

Over the past few months, Apple has been updating the Siri app with more functions. With the latest Siri, you can use it for workout, payments, VoIP apps, photos and third-party ride sharing apps.

Until now, Apple didn’t allow the third-party app developers to use their Siri’s Kit during their apps’ development. But now, third party app developers can try out the SiriKit for the same. Spotify has also launched a separate website for complaints against Apple’s Siri not allowing their users to fetch songs.

iOS 13 is launching in the next month for public users and it will include all the latest features.
