Apple Music Slated to Arrive on Amazon Echo in mid-December

Those having an Apple Music subscription will soon be able to use voice commands to play their favourite songs on Echo. In a recent announcement, Amazon disclosed that Apple Music will be made available on the Echo speakers in the coming month, starting the week of 17th December.

David Limp, the Amazon Devices Senior VP, added that they are dedicated to providing amazing music providers to their users and after releasing the Music Skill API to developers a month ago, they have broadened the music selection on their digital assistant to include additional premium services.

He further noted that they are excited to introduce Apple Music, which is amongst the trendiest music services in the USA, to Echo users this Christmas.

When the new functionality releases, Echo owners will be able to command Alexa to play song tracks from Apple Music. To use this feature, they will have to pair their Apple Music Account to the Amazon Alexa app.

The new update will enable the Echo customers to ask the digital assistant to play not only songs but also artists and albums. Apart from this, users will be able to ask Alexa to play the playlists curated by the editors of Apple Music from across the globe, including various activities and moods.

This feature will be rolled out as an Alexa Skill. When it releases, customers can just add the Apple Music Skill in their Alexa application. Upon linking the Apple Music accounts, they simply have to trigger Alexa by saying the wake word and then ask her to play tracks from Apple Music.

Prior to this development, people with an Apple Music subscription had to pair their handsets to play the Echo speaker using Bluetooth, just to listen to music. They could not control the playback using voice command and had to control the music from their handheld devices. Now with Apple Music integrating with Echo, subscribers can ask Alexa to play songs without having to resort to their phones or tabs. Stay tuned with TechnoCodex for more updates.
