Asus has started rolling out the Android 8.0 Oreo stable release to its latest flagship ZenFone 4. The update is FOTA (firmware over the air) in nature so it will take a while to reach all ZenFone 4 devices.The Company advises its users that if they don’t get the update notification, it will be necessary to open Settings apps, head to About and verify in the Software Update menu.
The ZenUI Oreo update brings several changes, including a user-friendly UI design, a fully redesigned emoji set, adaptive icons for consistent icons, and Picture-in-Picture mode and all the new features brought by Google inside the Android Cookie version.The update also brings ‘Parallel Apps’ or split screen style feature, Auto-fill, smart text selection along with other Oreo features.
To recall, the Asus ZenFone 4 sports a 5.5” Full HD (1080×1920 pixels) IPS display and powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC. It offers 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage which can be further expanded up to 2TB via microSD card.
For photography, the Asus ZenFone 4 comes equipped with a dual rear camera setup. The setup includes a 12MP primary sensor and an 8MP secondary sensor with 120-degree wide-angle lens. On the front, there is an 8MP shooter for selfies and video calls.
The smartphone is fueled by a 3,300mAh battery. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, NFC, Headphones, FM, 3G and 4G. Sensors on board include Compass Magnetometer, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor and Gyroscope. It measures 155.40 x 75.20 x 7.50 and weighs 165 grams.
