A lacklustre tour Down Under has come to an end for the West Indies with a thrashing at Adelaide Oval.

Australia bowled the visitors out for a measly 77 in the fourth innings on Sunday to wrap it up before the first break on day four.

The 419-run victory is the fourth-biggest Test win ever for Australia.

The hosts win the series 2-0 and the Windies go home with not much to show for their trip south, having been outclassed in Perth also.

Day four was highlighted by some masterful wicketkeeping from Alex Carey.

He stood up to the stumps for Michael Neser who bowls around 130km/h, and the brave move paid dividends.

West Indies batter Roston Chase edged a Neser delivery and the ball bounced off Carey’s glove, into his chest, and managed to stick in his arm for the wicket.

“I promise you that is outstanding… that is a really top-drawer piece of cricket,” Ian Smith said in commentary for Fox Cricket.

“With a little bit of luck involved he takes a screamer.”

Carey took another catch off Neser from up at the stumps, and then caught Marquino Mindley with an outstretched right glove to seal the victory.

“Very disappointing, we didn’t seem to fight here at all,” West Indies captain Kraigg Braithwaite said.

Hometown hero Travis Head was awarded player of the match for his 175 in the first innings, while Marnus Labuschagne earned the player of the series gong, having scored three centuries, including a double in Perth.

Australia next takes on South Africa at the Gabba from next Saturday.
