Ahead of their Australian Open final, Ash Barty and Danielle Collins have been assessing one another’s game.

“Danielle has done incredibly well here in Australia before. I mean, we have played in Adelaide a couple of times. We have played on clay before.

“I think the way she’s able to control the baseline and really take the game on she’s one of the most fierce competitors out here. She loves to get in your face and loves to really take it on,” Barty said after her semi-final on Thursday.

Collins was also complimentary of the Aussie’s game after booking her spot in the final, saying: “You know, something I really admire about Ash’s game is her variety, you know, playing a different game style than pretty much all of the players on tour.

“There is not too many that use the slice backhand the way that she does, and, you know, have the big serve the way that she does. I think she has really great variety. She mixes her spots well. She’s able to hit all the different corners, mixing speeds and really kind of making you guess a lot on where she’s going.”
