Battlefield 2042 Drops Below 1000 Concurrent Players on Steam

Battlefield 2042 is having the worst release in the history of the franchise, with many players looking for refunds for their purchases. EA has really disappointed the fans with the latest edition of this longstanding franchise. The game itself was released as an unfinished product. Many games have their fair share of bugs and glitches on Day 1, but Battlefield 2042 was broken on another level.

One thing that still many fans and players find unbelievable is that the game still does not contain a voice chat feature. There has been no multiplayer shooter game in recent times that has not included this valuable feature. These issues have resulted in the diminishing of its player base and has recorded lowest concurrent players in the game’s history.

According to analytics provided by Steam Database, Battlefield 2042 has lesser than 1000 players at the moment and the highest concurrent players peaked at 1,784 in this month. In the past 5 months the maximum number of players has peaked at 105,397. This has been a very disappointing year for the developers, Dice and the publisher, EA in relation to this franchise.

What’s more surprising is that the previous edition of the game has a higher number of concurrent players compared to the recent title. Battlefield V at the moment has around 9,000 concurrent players, with the 24 hour peak coming in at 18,712. Very rare to see an earlier title performing better than the most recent one.

Apparently the launch of Halo Infinite in the same release window as Battlefield 2042 contributed a lot towards the diminishing of concurrent players. Halo Infinite provides the players with a much smoother and technically capable gameplay experience to the players compared to this year’s Battlefield 2042. Halo Infinite has also averaged much higher with the concurrent players compared to the former.

It seems like the game will be relying on their upcoming update to mend things with the player base. Through the upcoming update they will be addressing many issues and fixing many bugs such as the scoreboard and other bundle issues. The game will also be adding an in-game voice chat feature and some revamps to the maps of the game to provide the players with a much better gameplay experience. There is no official release date for this upcoming update but EA has promised for it to arrive by early April.
